The Children's Defense Fund

Annually, the Children's Defense Fund collects statistics related to child care:

  • Child Care Basics: "Every day, 13 million preschoolers—including 6 million infants and toddlers—are in child care." Yet, according to information gathered by the Children's Defense Fund, "Good care is hard to find." Check out this short but fascinating summary of child care in the U.S.
  • Children in the States: Did you know that TN ranks 35th in the percentage of children in poverty? That in our state 196,000 children have no health insurance? Or that a single caregiver in a center can care for as many as 15 four-year-olds? You can read this report for these facts and more information on the condition of children and their families.
